One of my favorite things… is learning new things just for the sake of knowing

I am three chapters into War and Peace.  So far, I wish I knew more about Russian history and how to speak French, but it’s rather intesting.

Ann’s music wafting up from the basement and Joe telling me a story over skype.

my room suddenly got really messy again, even though it was clean last night! Frustration…

I just thought I’d let you know that I am, indeed, still breathing. And knittng, crocheting, sewing, and reading. It’s been quite the start to a new year, and it has thus distracted me from blogging however.

I will definitely fix that asap.

Well, it’s officially exam week tomorrow, and I have had no time or energy to knit anything lately.

I’m 15 chapters behind in Frankenstein and I have to have that done by Monday. (It’s not that it’s really a boring book, I just don’t like reading for school. >_< )

My “Egg Drop Project” for Physics is coming along nicely, and hopefully it works.

The December edition of the Newspaper comes out on Tuesday and I need to proofread and check the whole thing..

I got half of my Christmas shopping done today!

Now, I’m off to finish some other things. Happy knitting!

Crap! I’ve always been a pretty focused person, and that includes my knitting. I can usually keep it down to two or maybe three things on the needles at one time. But right now? I have a scarf, a cardigan, another pair of garter stitch mitts, a sock, and a hat or two to work on.. Plus I have a bunch of things that I want to start. Help!!

For our Secret Santa at work, I knit this tiny sweater ornament. Isn’t it adorable? It’s about three inches across, knit in alpaca on size 2 needles. I love it! When I have my own Christmas tree, I want to make one of these every year. (The way we do our Secret Santa, we draw a different name each week for four weeks. This was week one. For week two, I knit a mitten ornament and I did not like it. It was really frustrating! This week will be a Santa hat.)

thou art my favorite fiber!

It’s been quite awhile since I posted! (Besides the one from yesterday.) Lack of blogging does not coincide with lack of knitting, though. I have finished two pairs of Garter Stitch Mitts, am going to be casting on a third tomorrow, and depending on a certain JP, I might be casting on a fourth yet. (Good thing I really like this pattern!) I’ve been using the yarn from B, and I really like it. The mitts for my art teacher are complete, and now I’m just going to wait until he finishes my knitting bowl to trade. I’m going to do a separate post for these mitts, just because there’s so many of them.

I also finished Alucard’s birthday gift (way back in October.) I think it’s one of my favorite hats ever.

And I think he likes it too ^_^

I’ve also gotten a decent start on my Urban Aran Cardigan. I absolutely love this cable pattern! The shmoosh-factor of the yarn is delicious. I have almost one complete sleeve, and then I’ll start the second. (Does anyone besides me find it a little scary that this is basically my first sweater?) No progress pictures on that yet because it’s been downright grey here for the past week.

And lastly,

I bought, read, and loved this book. The Yarn Harlot is a really talented writer, and her stories make me smile constantly. Terrific book – I totally recommend it. (I have read The Yarn Harlot: The Secret Life of a Knitter, Knitting Rules, and I’m starting At Knit’s End.)

Sorry for the weird absence!

While I’m not an official Librarian, I do work at a library and I would like to go to school to be a librarian. I love books! Currently, I am a Page – I get a cart of books, sort it, and put all the books back on the shelves.

Some times I don’t really want to go in to work, but I do really like my job. It’s air conditioned, it’s kind of fun, and… most of my co-workers knit! It’s really cool to share knitting projects with them. Last week, I got the best surprise when I came in. B gave me three shopping bags full of yarn!!

I have some things planned already.. I’m going to use the red Reynolds Chesapeake to make B a Noble Cowl. (Ravelry Link) I want to make a felted bag from the Tipperary Tweed, and a baby blanket from the cotton. So many ideas!

And besides all of that, I have been working on some small projects. Alucard’s birthday was a few days ago, and I had been persevering at a pair of fingerless gloves for him. But he has big hands. I tried using the Knucks pattern from Knitty, but it wasn’t even close. After two gloves that didn’t fit, he said that he really wanted a hat anyways. >_<
I like making hats, and I cast one on yesterday. I’m going to embroider the Nintendo logo on it – my first endeavor at any big embroidery! I’m excited ^_^

I’ve also been working on a scarf using the three leftover skeins from Magdelena’s shrug. It’s the Not Quite Straight Scarf by Nicole Hindes. I really love this pattern! I wanted something just easy enough to keep me interested.
I also went on an adventure to an alpaca farm near here! The couple who own it were really nice and we will definitely go back again. It’s going to be made into the fingerless gloves for my art teacher.

Today is my last day of school for the week.
Then I can relax (and forget about my Physics test >_<).
And I have a big post on the way.
